Jazz Guitarist Ralf Buschmeyer Nominated for Hamilton Music Award

Calgary, Alberta Chronograph Records Ltd. is pleased to announce that Western Canadian jazz guitarist Ralf Buschmeyer has been nominated for the Hamilton Music Award for Outstanding Instrumental Recording for his album "EST 1968."

Although Buschmeyer is best known nationally as predominantly a jazz master, "EST 1968" is more blues influenced. The album features 10 of Ralf's original compositions in quartet format that highlight his musical influences. This is Ralf's tribute to all of the great artists that influenced his musical growth.

"EST 1968" has had some great successes. It reached #3 on the top 100 of 2007 for CKUA radio in Alberta, as well as reaching #4 on the CKXU Jazz Charts in Lethbridge, and #2 on the Jazz charts for CFBX in Kamloops earlier this year.

Originally from Hamilton, Ralf took up studies at Hamilton's Mohawk College where he studied weekly for 3 years with jazz great Lorne Lofsky. During this time, he also served as musical director and composer for Rogers Cable TV show 'The Metal Mike Show'. After touring for several years following college, Ralf finally made his home in Calgary, Alberta, but still has family in Hamilton and visits often.

The Hamilton Music Awards take place from November 13th through 16th, with the Awards show on the final evening at the Hamilton Place Theatre. Tickets at Ticketmaster.
